Brief History of School
Yelchen Central School is one of the 24 pilot central schools of the first phase identified and instituted by the earlier government. It was established in 2015 under the Comprehensive School Reform Program initiatives of the government towards ensuring quality education. It was formally inaugurated by His Excellency Shri Pranab Mukherjee, the President of India during his official state visit to Bhutan on November 8, 2014. The school lies under Nanong Gewog in Pemagatshel Dzongkhag and it caters to three gewogs namely Nanong Gewog, Zobel Gewog and Shumar Gewog. The school has classes ranging from Pre-Primary (PP) to Classes X with boarding facilities. Besides, the school has newly built buildings with road connectivity and electricity facilities.
Location of the School
Located on a gentle slope at an altitude of 780 m above sea level, Yelchen Central School has an area of 13.762 acres of land. We experience very hot climate in summer and moderate climate in winter. The construction of main structure was completed in 2014 and officially handed over to the Ministry of Education and the Dzongkhag Administration, Pemagatshel on September 4, 2014 in the presence of Dasho Karma Yeshey, the Director General, Department of School Education, Ministry of Education.
